Corporate Social Responsibility is now a concept recognized worldwide whereby organisations consider the interests of society by taking responsibility for the impact of their activities on customers, suppliers, employees, shareholders, communities and other stakeholders. Organisations voluntarily take steps to improve the quality of life for employees and their families as well as for the local community and society at large in this regard.
These activities have now spanned over a huge scale, ranging from efforts to save the environment through green, ozone-friendly and anti-carbon initiatives; law & order and safety awareness campaigns; and cleanliness and health related drives. Of all these, activities and initiatives to promote and encourage lawfulness and to increase road safety awareness are most highly acclaimed for their contribution towards human life.
Fulfilling its role of being a responsible corporate citizen and promoting secure and safe environment beyond its core domain and premises, CDC has sponsored 110 road safety and guidance signs on I.I. Chundrigar Road, Karachi. Being one of the busiest business hubs in the metropolitan, this road receives a hefty traffic load on working days. Erected at prominent and regular intervals and at every curve & turning, these road signs are a constant source of information about maximum speed limit and direction to the vehicle drivers
and pedestrians.
